On the outside in red, the Ferrari 488 is a thing of beauty, a perfect work of art on wheels. The 488 and its predecessor, the 458, had a more futuristic aesthetic than early 2000s sports cars. Ferrari has carved off every ounce of fat from the bodywork to make it athletic. It has a dramatic wide stance and slim low-profile tires.<\/p>

But when you\u2019re in the driver\u2019s seat, you don\u2019t have to retract the roof to hear the engine properly. The rear windshield is power-operated and gives you an unfiltered earful of the mighty V8. Ferraris are all about driving experience, and the Ferrari 488 takes that claim very seriously. It gives you no excuse to take your hand off the steering wheel while driving. BEHIND THE WHEEL<\/h3>

To drive, the Ferrari is light on its feet and incredibly sharp to respond to driver inputs. The gear shifts are instantaneous and loud, even if you\u2019re just calmly driving around in the city. There\u2019s a tactility to this response that gives you a better sense of control than any regular car. It coaxes you on like a gym trainer, speeding up your mind and quickening your heartbeat. The engine churns out a whopping 670 horsepower and 560 pound-feet of torque. It\u2019s paired with a lightning-quick 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
