7 Amazing Cars That Outlasted Their Drivers

If you’re a car enthusiast, then it’s hard not to be amazed by the lengths that some cars went through. Some of these vehicles were driven for decades without their owners ever taking them in for repairs or even oil changes. This is an article about 7 amazing cars that outlasted their drivers.

Out of all these amazing cars, perhaps one of the most interesting ones is the 1932 Alfa Romeo Tipo B. This car was once driven by famous racer Tazio Nuvolari to win its first race back at Mille Miglia in 1933.

The last driver to drive the Tipo B was Achille Varzi until he retired from racing with it in 1936. This vehicle managed to survive World War II and was later restored by Alfa Romeo in the 1970s!

The 1939 BMW 328 is a car with an interesting racing history behind it. It was raced by famous drivers such as Hans Stuck, Herbert Muller, and Dick Seaman back in its day. This BMW 328 Roadster was also one of the most expensive cars back in 1939; it has an estimated value today of around $12 million!

The car managed to set many records, such as winning both Mille Miglia and Targa Florio (two famous races) in 1940. It is a record that only two other vehicles have achieved since then.

The car also outlasted two of its drivers, who died on the track in 1955 and 1957 respectively. The last driver to drive this car was Paul Pietsch until he retired from racing with it in 1969. He donated it back to BMW where they restored the vehicle for future generations of enthusiasts to enjoy!

05. The 1954 Mercedes W196 that won the F-I Championship

Mercedes has always been a fan favorite when it comes to racing, and this is because of their famous cars. The most notable one was probably the 1954 Mercedes W196, which won its first race at Nurburgring in 1955. However, perhaps what made this vehicle so famous was the fact that it won its first race back in 1954 at Silverstone.

One of the most interesting things about this car is how it outlasted all but one of its drivers (the other driver died during a test drive). The only remaining driver who drove this vehicle, Stirling Moss, stopped racing after 1962 because he refused to compete without his teammate, Denis Jenkinson.

The Mercedes W196 is a car that outlasted five of its famous f1 drivers and won countless races!

04. A 1956 Porsche 356A Speedster with over 400,000 miles on the odometer

The Porsche 356A has many things to its name, including being one of the most famous cars in history. Car enthusiasts also recognize this vehicle as a racing car that set numerous world records and won countless races during the 1950s.

Perhaps what makes this 1956 Porsche 356A Speedster even more special is how it not only outlasted all but one of its drivers (the other driver died in a racing accident), but also the time it spent on display at RMS Queen Mary. It was displayed onboard this ship until 1978 when it was sold and restored.

The 356A is currently owned by Porsche who keeps this vehicle as an example to show off its history of success!

03. A 1955 Ferrari 500 Mondial Spider with over 55,000 miles on the odometer

Anyone who knows anything about racing history would immediately recognize this vehicle like a Ferrari that has a rich racing past! The 1955 Ferrari 500 Mondial Spider was driven by famous racer Juan Manuel Fangio and won many races such as the Mille Miglia (1955), Targa Florio (1956), and Grand Prix Championship!

The last driver to drive this car was Olivier Gendebien in 1958 until he retired with it.

Paul Walker was famous for numerous roles that he played in the Fast and Furious franchise. He starred as Brian O’Conner, one of the lead characters of this series.

As Paul’s last few projects were all centered on car racing, it is not surprising to find out that he had a strong passion for cars- so much so that he owned several BMW E36 M3 Lightweights!

This particular model of BMW is quite popular among performance enthusiasts due to its lightweight frame. It also has an inline-six engine with 300 horsepower. The most powerful iteration comes with 320 horsepower, which can propel this vehicle up to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds!

These are some features that make this model of BMW unique and popular among car enthusiasts. But perhaps what makes this vehicle even more interesting is how it has outlasted its most famous owner, Paul Walker!

01. The 1939 Packard Super Eight One-Eighty Convertible Victoria that was once a personal car of Henry Ford II

1806_one-eighty_super_eight_700_custom_darrin_victoria_convertible_1a 7 Amazing Cars That Outlasted Their Drivers

The 1939 Packard One-Eighty Convertible Victoria is not only a personal car of Henry Ford II, but it also has an interesting racing past. This vehicle was once raced by Briggs Cunningham and won many races such as the 12 Hours of Sebring (1957) and Le Mans 24 Hour race (1959).

However, perhaps what makes this car even more famous is the fact that it was also driven by a celebrity. This vehicle was once owned and raced by actor Clark Gable!

One of the most interesting things about this 1939 Packard One-Eighty Convertible Victoria is how it outlasted all but one of its drivers, including Henry Ford II himself when he died in 1987. The last driver to race this car was Briggs Cunningham until he retired in 1960 and donated the vehicle back to Ford where it is currently on display at the Henry Ford Museum!

The 7 cars mentioned in this article are some of the most interesting ones out there. For one, they all managed to survive their drivers and continued for years afterward-even though many had over 400,000 miles or more that is why it’s not hard to see why these cars might be so interesting. Perhaps what makes these cars even more amazing is how they outlasted their famous owners.

Exotic Cars Destroyed By Hollywood

Exotic Cars Destroyed By Hollywood

Hollywood has become synonymous with high-action blockbusters, heartwarming dramas, tear-jerking love stories…Oh, and it just so happens to be the place where the destruction of unique cars takes place often. Wouldn’t it be great if your expensive car turns into a movie star?

Hollywood is sometimes facing a lot of criticism for destroying classic American muscle cars and trucks. However, the same has become a trend in the exotic car world too. I knew this would happen when “Driven” came out in 2001.

The movie showcased some high-speed cars, but the car would spin out of control and crash at the end of every famous track scene. I knew back then that directors would try to duplicate this and haven’t been disappointed.

We all know that Hollywood is far away from reality. For today’s blog, We thought of an excellent little write-up to share with the readers about cars that have been destroyed in Hollywood movies.

The History Of Exotic Car Destroyed By Hollywood

Since the dawn of cinema, car chases and their inevitable destruction have been a staple of Hollywood films. The silent picture Runaway Match, released in 1903, is the first car-centric picture. With its debut in 1912, Mack Sennett’s Keystone Cops presents an idea of the horseless carriage pursuit.

In 1928’s Two Tars, Laurel and Hardy were among the first to address the unsettling consequences of traffic jams and road rage, with the lads progressively demolishing a line of automobiles in festering acts of irritation with their unhappy motorists.

Filmed vehicle chases and car destruction have since become a mainstay of cinema, with films such as Bullit (1968), The Blues Brothers (1990), and the Fast and Furious franchise (2001) pushing the boundaries of destruction.

Most Expensive Car Destroyed In a Movie By Hollywood

During the film “Furious 7,” a Lykan Hypersport from W Motors becomes popular for a stunt and destruction during the scene. This car is the most expensive car ever destroyed in a movie. The Lykan Hypersport is an exclusive vehicle from the Dubai-based firm, with an engine capable of producing 750 horsepower and 738 pound-feet of torque, allowing it to go from 0 to 62 mph 2.8 seconds.

Lykan_HyperSport_-_Furious_7 Exotic Cars Destroyed By Hollywood

In Furious 7, did they crash a Lykan HyperSport?

The answer is a resounding no. The Lykan Hypersport is a one-of-a-kind car with a limited manufacturing run. With a price tag of 3.4 million dollars, they only manufactured 7 of these. The fact that it has diamonds in the headlights contributes to the price.

Fast & Furious 7 featured a vehicle that looked like a Lykan Hypersport. It was a version that specifically came into existence just for the film. They only made a couple of these for the film. The filmmakers were still expensive, but it didn’t blow the budget for just one automobile. It was just a shell.

Now, look at these most exotic cars destroyed in Hollywood movies.

  1. 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SE Cabriolet

This bachelor party destroys the groom’s father-in-1969 law’s Mercedes, revealing everything about the father-in-law. That movie depicts the type of person who today owns these antique cars: well-off, middle-aged men. That automobile was worth a good amount of money when The Hangover was made. It was initially for sale for $95,000.

   2. 1946 Ford Super DeLuxe Convertible

Biff-ford2 Exotic Cars Destroyed By HollywoodThe destruction of this classic car made the audience cheer in this movie as there was a classic car chase scene that features Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) on the run from Biff Tannen (Thomas F. Wilson) and also his band of thugs was purely timeless.

The car belonging to Tannen was a 1946 Ford Super De Luxe convertible with a 292 flathead v8 engine. The price tag of this car is around $89,900-$100,000. Undoubtedly, it was nice to look at that piece of art and it was on public display at the Universal Studios for many years but was sold to a private collector in 1996 and now resides in Wisconsin.

    3. Lamborghini Murcielago LP-640

In this 2008 episode of the “Batman” franchise, Bruce Wayne (Christian Bale) was affluent enough that he probably didn’t mind wrecking his Lamborghini Murcielago. You have to drive a Lamborghini if you want people to notice you because they always have the most extreme styling. This has always been the craziest car. Lamborghini Murcielago cost more than $315,000.

    4. Lamborghini Huracán

“You need to purchase a Lamborghini if you want to show off your money to the world,” a user told the newspaper reporter. Lamborghinis are akin to Ferraris but considerably wilder. Those are rich playboys’ automobiles. According to Bloomberg, at least one out of six Lamborghini Huracán LP610-4s gets huge fame in the filming of “Doctor Strange” (each worth roughly $238,000) used in stunts.

     5. 1970 Dodge Charger

All Dominic Toretto’s (Vin Diesel) upgrades make his 1970 Dodge Charger so desirable. You could pack a massive engine into it because it was so big. Some option codes can quadruple the car’s price. It features a roll cage, an aftermarket engine, maybe new wheels, and most likely a changed suspension in the movie. According to NADAGuides.com, a comparable Charger in good condition is worth more than $40,000.

     6. Lincoln Continental

Although vintage automobiles contribute to the cost of period films, Paramount got a decent deal on this 1941 Lincoln when filming “The Godfather.” It probably wasn’t worth that much in the 1970s. It was probably something along the lines of, ‘Oh sure, maybe some old guy has one around.’ In the early 1940s, they were famous as luxury automobiles; nowadays, they may bring up to $50,000.

    7. 2006 Aston Martin DBS

The Aston Martin cars that were made specifically for Casino Royale were given to the studio for the appearance in the film, which is quite generous considering that each one has a price tag of over $400K. The DBS makes a spectacular exit from the film, setting the world record for most barrel rolls assisted by a cannon.

Car Crashes Are Real? Do They Destroy Expensive Cars In Hollywood Movies?

They aren’t always real.

The BMW Z8 sawed in two in the James Bond film “The World Is Not Enough” has OEM sheet metal but kit-car mechanicals below. In that film, several of the Z8s were 1/25 scale replicas. Although utilized an actual Z8 in the movie, BMW asked that it be returned in its original condition.

They are, however, occasionally real.

The BMW 750 James Bond drove under remote control in “Tomorrow Never Dies” was a real car, with joystick controls mounted deep in the rear passenger footwell and small cameras on display. The BMW Classic Museum in Munich has that automobile on exhibit. The frequently damaged cars featured in movies, like the Tokyo Drift automobiles.
