MERCEDES G550 VS G63 – The Los Angeles Gwagon Rental Comparison

COMPARING MERCEDES G CLASS RENTAL LOS ANGELES

white mercedes benz g550 corner view
Comparing Mercedes G Class Rental Los Angeles at 777 Exotics is powered by a 416 hp, 4.0 L twin-turbo V8 engine and a 610 N.m (450 lb-ft) of torque. This is an upgrade to the 5.5 L, naturally aspirated V8 engine in the 2015 model that could only manage 382 hp with 391 lb-ft. Mercedes G63 on the other hand outshines the G 550 with its newly upgraded 621 hp, twin turbocharged V12 engine, from the 563 hp, 561lb-ft torque in the 2015 model .

Comparing Mercedes G Class The G550 and G63 Engine

G63 and G550 Performance

G 550 does 0 – 60 mph in less than 5.7 seconds and a quarter-mile in 14.4 seconds at 97 mph. The G 63 model is, however, quicker than the G 550 hitting the 60 mph line in just 4.8 seconds and a quarter-mile in 13.3 seconds at 107 mph. It has a top speed of 130 mph and can brake from 70 mph to 0 in less than 163 feet while the G 550 needs additional 20 feet to stop from 70 mph. The G550 has an economical fuel consumption doing 15 mpg when compared to the G 63’s 13 mpg (owing to its large displacement engine)

SUV Transmission

Just like the G63 rental, G 550 has an All-Wheel drive system with a 7-speed automatic transmission. The G 63’s AMG SPEEDSHIFT PLUS 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission features AMG shift paddles on the steering wheel and three driving modes with different accelerating and shifting experience. Both have three locking differentials for off-roading.

Suspension and steering on G Class Vehicles

They have live axles and coils up front and in the rear. Both the G 550 and G 63 latest models are equipped with optional driver adjustable dampers and have recirculating-ball type steering system.

Luxury G63 and G550 Interior Options

For the G 63, supportive comfy leather sets which are heated and ventilated are what ushers one in. The white illuminated stainless steel panels with AMG lettering hardly goes unnoticed. The G 63 boasts more than 120 cubic feet of interior space. The state of the art infotainment system has been redesigned to feature a large, center-mounted color display as part of the COMAND system with a multiple DVD player and controllers. The interior access and navigation system has been integrated with special off-road features also made available.
With an extra $ 149, 175, one can get carbon-fiber interior trim, rear seat entertainment systems with dual monitors, purple design mystic blue metallic paint, heated steering wheel, and an all-wheel floor matt. However, the legroom, headroom and the narrow cabin are not that impressive.
For the G 550, the cabin is laced with leather and though narrow, is upright. The infotainment system includes a TFT color display between two round dials and a tablet-style display for the standard COMAND system, merging navigation, entertainment and connectivity functions.

Mercedes G550 Exterior

The G 63 comes with an AMG sports exhaust system, almost similar to G 550’s dual side-exiting exhausts. Just like the G 550, the G 63’s suspension system settings are adjusted for more handling characteristics. It has a twin-blade radiator grill with four chrome inserts. Still on the front, the AMG G 63 bumpers have three large airflow inlets. The new LED daytime running lights are positioned just below the bi-xenon headlights.

The Mercedes SUV Dimensions

The G 63 is 79 pounds heavier weighing 5961 pounds. It is equipped with much larger brakes (14.8 inch and 13.0-inch front and rear rotors respectively) than the G 550’s 12.4 and 10.7 inch rotors due to its 20 inch tires which is an inch larger than what G 550 has.

Rolls Royce Ghost vs Rolls Royce Wraith

Rolls Royce Ghost vs Rolls Royce Wraith

The Rolls Royce Ghost is a full-size luxury car manufactured by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars. The car
was given the nameplate “Ghost” in honor of Rolls-Royce Silver Ghost, the car first produced in
1906. Its production has been underway since 2009 with Andreas Thurner and Charles Coldham
being the lead designers. The Ghost adopts a 4-door saloon body style.
Rolls-Royce Wraith on the other hand is based on Ghost’s architecture but has been transformed into a 2 – door coupe grand tourer. It also adopts most of its platform from the BMW F01.
Production has been underway since 2013 with Pavle Trpinac as its chief designer.

Rolls Royce Technical specifications:

Rolls Royce Performance Statistics
Rolls-Royce Ghost can accelerate from 0 – 60 mph (97 km/h) in just 4.7 seconds. It has a top
speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). Wraith is slightly faster, doing the 0 – 60 mph in less than 4.6
seconds, with a top speed electronically limited to 260 km/h. It has a combined cycle fuel
consumption of 10.2 kilometers per liter.

The Ghost feature a 6592 cc V12 twin turbo engine that can deliver 562 hp (419 kW) at 5250
rpm and 780 Nm (575 lb-ft) torque at 1500 rpm. This power plant, codenamed N74B66 is a
modified version of the BMW N74 V12 engine. The wright uses the same 6592 cc V12 twin
turbo engine but delivers an extra 61 hp and 20 Nm torque both at 5600 rpm and (1500 – 5500)
rpm respectively.
Transmission
Rolls Royce Wraith uses an 8-speed ZF 8HP90 automatic transmission which falls short to the
ZF 8-speed PRNDLTronic “satellite aided transmission” adopted in Ghost’s latest models. With
this state of the art technology on its series II models, the vehicle uses GPS data, driver driving
style and road condition analysis to select the most appropriate gear ratio.
Ghost finds pleasure in its old rear wheel drive platform and is yet to feature the All-Wheel
Drive system adopted by Rolls-Royce Wraith.
Interior design
Ghost has a new and more comfortable seats. The infotainment system is featuring BMW’s latest
technology. The soft natural grain leather upholstery interior is impressive. The small rear
windscreen doesn’t offer impressive visibility, but this is, however, compensated by the huge
front door mirrors which provide exceptional rear view. There is plenty of leg room, head room
and the boot is more spacious than the Rolls-Royce Wraith. The Wraith’s interior comfort has
been spiced, however, by the wood trims, dyed leather and chrome fittings.
Exterior design
Rolls-Royce Ghost now has newly redesigned advance and adaptive LED headlights and
daytime running lights. More sweeping lines at the bottom of the Pantheon grilles graces the
front appearance of the vehicle. It has adopted Phantom’s rear-hinged back-doors which makes
access to the back seats simpler.
They are equipped with the same front and rear ventilated disc brake systems and 19-inch and
20-inch forged alloy wheels in Ghost and Wraith respectively.
Steering and Suspension system
They are both equipped with double wishbone front axle and multi-link rear axle, front and rear
suspension systems. The Ghost uses an electric power steering system but Rolls-Royce opted for
a hydraulic power steering for the Wraith.
Dimensions
Rolls-Royce Ghost has an extended wheelbase and length of 3465 mm and 5569 mm
respectively when compared with Wraith’s wheelbase and length of 3112 mm and 5268 mm.
They both, however, maintain widths off 1948 mm.
